Suggestions on ways around this

I am pulling the air ride out of Screamin' so I installed 3" coils and 2.5 spindles on the front of her yesterday and found that the tires have moved out 1.25"s.

I knew they would move out some but DAMN!! I had an ass load more clearance with the stock spindles and the bags fully pancaked!!

The tires turn lock to lock without rubbing, but I have less than 1/4" clearance at the fender lip. And I haven't even tried her out on the street.

I am running 275/60/15 tires front and rear, should I narrow up the front tires to say a 255/60/15? Any idea how much narrower 255s are vs. 275s?

The rear is getting 5" drop springs, and I will adjust the rake with blocks. Haven't decided on 1" 0r 2" additional drop yet. The tires clear just fine in the rear.

Don't mind the fugly rims on driver's side, I havent stripped and polished them yet.

Pics so far:

Re: Suggestions on ways around this

What brand of spindles are you running?

A 275/60R15 tire is 10.83 wide, and has a overall diameter of 27.99

A 255/60R15 tire is 10.04 wide, and has a overall diameter of 27.05

I would say the 1/4" of clearance you hav should be fine. Drive it on the street and if you have any rubbing issues just go pick up some 255's.

Re: Suggestions on ways around this

Thanks for the tire specs, that is very useful info. By going to 255s I can gain .4 inches of clearance.

I'm gonna take her out once I get the bags out of the rear and the springs in, I'm just worried about tire rash on my fender lips.

I guess I could get new rims for the front with a different BS or I could go to a 2" spring up front as well. Either way this is costing $$$$$

Damn spindles!!!

Re: Suggestions on ways around this

I have a couple tweenage boys that are probably going to be driving her every once in a while, on dates, to school/work etc. and I feel the urge to "play with the switches" might be too much temptation.

I now how I was at that age and I'd be pancakin' her every time a hottie looked my direction!! LOL

Re: Suggestions on ways around this

Well I chose to leave the 3" springs in and pull the spindles. The 5" springs in the back give the truck an old-skool rake and the tubes still have a long way to go before contacting the frame. I'm gonna put in a boltin c notch if I decide to go any lower in the rear. What do you guys think of her newest stance?
