nostalgic looking paint
i dont know if that subject title makes sense, well at least in my head it does....:p but im just wondering what colors on our trucks help them to keep that vintage look....i was thinking about going with an "electric blue" or "hugger orange" but now im thinking about olive green or something like that...do you guys have any pics or ideas on which colors might be the ones im looking for? it sorta sounds funny in words but im stumped here and thought you guys might have some good ideas...
Thanks a lot eh Derek

Get your paint code and paint it origional or if you want to change color go to the auto paint store and ask what colors were origional the year your truck was made.

If you want someone who knows (and therefore appreciates ) these trucks to feel nostalgic when they look at yours, it would be best to paint it one of the original colors. Since there weren't a whole bunch of factory colors to choose from, anyone who's spent much time around these pickups (or on this site) can quickly tell whether yours is one of the original colors.
If you're looking for a 1967 paint color that is typical and/or unique to the era, might I suggest this light green below? It's definitely "nostalgic." BTW, if you're looking to go with a factory-correct two-tone on a '67 be sure to note how the cab is painted here, as opposed to the way they did it in later years. This is just one of the many reasons why '67s rock. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

This is the same color on a '68 w/ Custom chrome & molding, but with a new paint job. Note the grille, A-pillars, and door window frames are white, unlike the '67.

Here's the paint chips from '67. Some of the darker colors show up as black on my screen, and may even be different on yours. But this will at least give you the paint codes so you can know what to ask for at the paint store.

Hey 67cst, in MHO if your goin' the way your pic is. I'd go with black, red, orange or white. I've seen alot of our trucks but those 4 colors are hard to beat. One more a burgundy or maroon looks great too!!!!

hey! that top truck is mine! I plan to paint it the same color that it is. At the same time I think there are plenty of colors out today that still retain the "look". Personally, I still want to do a 2 tone with using the ford ranger copper metallic that came out in the last 5 years. Great modern color, but still in the "look" of the medium bronze that was a factory color.

Hey, I reallllly like the green, that's the original color of my 67. I haven't decided if that's going to be the final color though. I'm actually considering the basic 67 fleet white color. I've repainted my interior w/the lt.grn but can't commit to paint the rest yet.....

My favorite factory color is Bronze. I don't know why, but my blazer is bronze and I love it. It has a little metal flake shimmer and realy looks good. Here is a bad pic of a bronze blazer, but at least you get the drift.

If I was going to do nostalgia, I'd go flat black with flat white & yellow flames, wide white wall tires and baby moons.

I always thought vintage wasn't just the paint but also the accessories being original to what came on the truck. You know, original style wheels and wheel covers, original type mirrors, etc... That's what makes it vintage. By the way, Dion, damn nice truck!!

Ochre would be another of my faves, I really like light blue and hugger orange as well for that vintage look.
