Lightbulb Info on drop shackles for '67-72

Just got a pair of 1" drop shackles delivered from CPP today for my '72 C-10 with rear leaf springs (obviously). Expected them to be custom-made shackles like their 2" drop shackles, but instead they are off-the-shelf parts from Flagg.

The Flagg part number is E747-22, which is the same as some other company's part number 330-180 (don't know which manufacturer at this point). I have no idea what the original application is.

Did some searching online and found the same shackles available at Stengel Bros. for less than $20 each, compared with the $44/pair I paid CPP. Not a huge price difference, but if your budget is like mine then every dollar counts. I could have used the extra few bucks, so I'm passing the info along in case someone else can benefit from the info.

Brent

EDIT: After pulling out the old shackles and comparing them side by side with the new, I fail to see any difference whatsoever and don't understand why/how they can be sold as 1" drop shackles. Not a huge deal since my goal was to replace the shackles instead of cleaning up the old ones and the drop wasn't important, but still. Compare the pics...

EDIT #2: See my message below. Turns out they sent the wrong shackles and the ones pictured are stock replacements.

They look pretty identical to me. Maybe they sent you the wrong part and you ended up with a set of stock height shackles instead. The one thing I do notice is that they appear to be for the newer style 2.5" springs instead of the 2.25" springs in the 67-72's???

Re: Info on drop shackles for '67-72

UPDATE: After almost two weeks of dinking around trying to contact CPP, first through their eBay email address and then their general address with no reply whatsoever, I went ahead and emailed my "real" contact there who had helped me with past orders. Didn't want to bother him since it shouldn't have been his problem, but finally I had no choice. He got back to me almost immediately.

Anyway, C10-Driver hit the nail on the head: they sent me stock shackles. They're sending a call tag for the wrong ones and will ship me the correct ones instead. If I had been in a hurry, I could have "ordered" the correct ones and gotten them right away, but seeing as I have quite a bit of work to do before I can even think about bolting on shackles I chose the slower option.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. It sounds like one of those situations where you keep thinking to yourself... "Something doesn't seem right." In most cases, it takes a whole lot more head bashing to figure it out.

The thing that still bugs me is that in the auction picture they show what appears to be the stock shackle that I received, but listed as a drop shackle. Weird. Can't wait to see what I eventually end up with.

The silver ones look like a one inch drop. The black ones look like stock height. Weird they are showing 2 different sets on the auction.

Here is what Early Classic has for a picture of a 1-1/2" drop. They look a little taller than the silver ones.

I suspect you will get a pair of the silver ones. Let us know how you make out.
