Bumpers are On!
I went and picked up the bumpers that I asked about yesterday that were $100. I see what you guys meant about the middle brackets. They are way too short. I just bolted it on with the outers and called it good. I kind of tucked the rear in to the body as close as I could to try to make it look good, which it does I think.
However, I have run into a problem. With the bumper sitting the way that I currently have it, I can't open my tailgate all the way because it hits the top of the bumper. I tried to adjust the bumper down some to clear. When I get it down so the tailgate clears, it looks like crap. Is there any way to fix this with the brackets that I have? Will drilling new mounting holes in the frame be the solution here, or do I need to lower it back down and live with it until I can get the correct brackets. Have any of you run into this when you put a rear bumper off of a Blazer/Suburban onto a pickup? I'm attaching some pics so maybe somebody can tell me what I did wrong here. ...Joe

Re: Bumpers are On!
Either buy the correct ones or drill holes. I would drill holes and get it as high as possible and still clear the gate.

Re: Bumpers are On!
looks great man.as slugish said boatpuller did it.however,at the cost of looking cool.boatpuller don't open his tailgate.mine is just a hobby truck i don't haul anything anyway.besides its so damn low i just chuck it over the side if i do.if it were my dd or worker i would put some thought into it.its like other crap you do to em.........cool on one hand.....practical on the other........which hand wins?................with me its usually the cool one.which isn't always the smart choice

Re: Bumpers are On!
Open the gate, move the bumper where you want/think it looks good, clamp the brackets to the frame and drill away.

Yesterday I discovered that I can loosen the top bolts and drop the bumper down enough to clear my tailgate so that I can use it as a truck when I need to. I need to use this truck tomorrow to return my buddy's power washer that I borrowed this week. Think I'll just loosen it long enough to return that and then push it back up and tighten it back down. I don't plan to haul too much else for a while after tomorrow anyway. I just hope that I don't forget and get in a hurry one day and open my gate without dropping my bumper out of the way! I think that later on I'll just buy the inner supports that I need and see where the outers end up. Hopefully it will be close enough that I can just drill some holes through to the outers to make it all work. If not, I'll just have to buy both. Thanks for the responses guys. It's much appreciated. ...Joe
