Lucas Oil stuff
Just curious if anybody uses this. Im tempted to get some after my break in oil change. Is it just a gimmic?

 i constantly use lucas oil treatment in my 72 and my 92 chevy. i also used in cat engine when i was a owner/operator. it boost the oil pressure a little and it also helps on cold start ups.

I always add a quart of Lucas, to everything except my BMW (which uses synthetic) I do one less quart of oil and replace it with Lucas.

i wouldnt use it on a new engine. lucas actually thickens the oil like molasses and makes a slick film on everything and that film collects crap and doesnt allow your oil to clean like it should.

well i used it cuz i was haveing a prob whit low oil presser and i put some in my motor and it started nockin ofter that but i got good oil presser now

In this area, the parts houses can't hardly keep it in. I have to order in extra between trucks because I run out continually. Great product. Big City, they have a Synthetic version out for Syn oil users. - Jerry

Sal-give it a break in period.....I have always suggested 5000-6000 miles for a proper break-in to all my customers before adding any additives to oil. See if others agree. Even when I run synthetic, I break in with regular oil, 1000 miles first change, 3000 second change, then I go to synthetic at 5000 miles. I had 260,000 miles on a 91 suburban bought new before a hail storm totaled the truck, and 130,000 currently on my 99 s10 bought with 12,000 miles and immediately switched to synthetic the day after I bought it. Not an engine problem(oil related) with either. My 65 c30 when done will be syn as well. Jerry

Right now Im running straight 30wt oil with no detergents. When should I switch to something else? and what wt. should I start using after this?

10w40 or 15w50 either one is great for a V8 and the viscosity does not change with temperature, so cold weather startups are NOT a concern.
