getting crossmember to lay

i have a 72 1/2 ton.tonight i decided to put some bags and cups on the front.i had some universal full size cups and re72 slam bags.without cutting the cups down and with stock spindles the crossmember is around 5" off the ground.i know if i cut the cup down it will help some but there isnt much room to cut it down before the bag rubs on the spring cup or lower control arm.so is it necisary to run the upper plate style brackets or can i use cups?also wheres the cheapest place to get spindles?

Cut the cups down to about 1.5" total height. Clearance the arms where necessary with a torch and BFH. You can use an upper cup, but you will have to trim the area around the spring to keep it from rubbing inside the crossmember. You will have to be careful not to go to far or it will never align at recommended installed bag height. Any more than 3" of spring drop usually and you are outside of alignment specs. Cheap spindles are a bad idea IMO. Low price = cheap casting = broken parts = wrecked truck. Belltech or ECE are good stuff and only about $50 more than the cheapies...

You can lay with upper plates and 2.5" spindles with a 26" tire. -Chris

well it sounds like more of a pain to hack up my spring cups and control arms than to just buy upper plates.i dont want cheap quality spindles but where is the cheapest place to buy belltechs?thanks for the help

When you say cut the cups down... cut them both to 1.5"??? or just the upper or just the lower???

I was referring to the lowers. I use upper plates...

where do you guys run the air line for the front bag?do you drill a hole through the spring cup?
