removing column shifter knob

I wanted to put on a new column shifter and blinker knob. I was thinking that they unscrewed off but instead, they just keep spinning. Any idea how to get them off?

Re: removing column shifter knob

turn signal should be threaded, the shift knob I cut off. I used a dremel then split it.

OK.. so you cut it off and then threaded it? What did you put on afterward? I have a little lathe here at work now, And I wanted to fab something up from some scrap aluminum we have.

Re: removing column shifter knob

sorry I was wrong about the turn sig arm. I bought the billet kit from the truck shop. I have a 70's van column. the turn sig is probably pressed on cause the kit comes with a new arm and knob. The replacement shift knob is just held on with a allen screw through the side.
