Getting My 72 Back
All through my driving years in High School (78,79,80) I had a 72 Chevrolet 3/4 Ton as transportation. It had a Big Block and was the Camper Special. I also just found out...Thanks to the internet...It was the "Highlander" Edition.
Anyways...My dad used the truck after I graduated in his business while I went to college. Then a few years later after I got married I got the truck back from my dad. I rebuilt the motor...ditched all of the chrome and painted it White w/Blue Interior. My new family now enjoyed the truck with a camper on the back while we towed boats/motor cycles and jeeps all over Arizona. We even made a family trip with the camper back to PA to visit relatives. In 1995 I ended up selling truck to a good friend who had expressed an interest in the truck for many years. His 4 sons all used the truck for HS and graduated...Fast forward to present and I got a call from my friend...He recalled that if he ever sold truck I would get first chance to buy it back. Way COOL...and he was true to his word. I got the call about a month ago...and HELL YES...I would love to buy it back! I live in Texas now and the truck is in Tucson...so...Thanksgiving weekend I am heading back home to pick my baby up. Since I now know it was a "Highlander"...I am planning on returning it to Orange and White. It still has the original engine...Been rebuilt twice by me and once by my friend. We figured it is in the range of 450,000 miles +/- which is not too bad. I will post pictures as soon as I get it...This website is really very nice for knowledge and stories. Thanks...Alan |
