using cornstarch to clean alum rim
I called the ultra co today to ask about order new 8 lug caps .. $10 each and then asked how to clean them .. the guy sez use cornstach on my alum rims ... cant wait to try that anybody else ?

we used to use cornstarch for final buffing out on the old laquer paint jobs prior to going to shows

Agreed---cornstarch was a great compound for lacquer-made for a mirror finish.

you mix with water and then drip it on as you're buffing the paint// i really cant see using it now with all the modern buffing and polishing compounds its really alot of work but was effective back in the day when ultra fine papers and polishes weren't available

An old-timer once told me as I was sweating away trying to get the mag polish off the aluminum rims on my Freightliner to use cornstarch. I tried it at it makes the job much easier and buffs them out to look like chrome.
I also learned to use 4x4 gauze pads purchased from a medical supply with the cornstarch and just toss them when they got too dirty.
