Color of blue in '85?
Back in '88 my dad had a swb '85 and the closest I can describe the color in GM corporate blue. It was the stock paint. Would like any info on this color and possibly pics of trucks also. Thanks
-Lance

Re: Color of blue in '85?
My truck is called light blue metallic. I cannot remember the paint code off the top of my head, but i can get it soon if you want. It is a repaint, and there was a bit more metal flake added to the paint. However, the actual color should be dead on like it was in 1984.
Sorry for the large pics. It is taking too long at attach, so i went through photo bucket. Comcast FTL

Re: Color of blue in '85?
I really like that color too. I used to own an 82 K20 that was that same shade of light blue metallic. I personally think that it loks even better when combined with the code 29 midnight blue as a two tone. ...Joe

Re: Color of blue in '85?
Love it!! Same color as mine, although there's a bunch of rust & primer mixed in.

Re: Color of blue in '85?
I think that's my color as well. I hardly ever see any that color locally. Maybe 1 or 2 each year if I don't count the ones that are two toned.

Re: Color of blue in '85?
i had one like that years ago and apparently someone didnt prepare that color right cause the paint literally peeled away from the primer...i wound up selling the truck after the motor blew

Re: Color of blue in '85?
Mine's doing the same thing on the hood/roof. I think I heard something about a problem with the factory and water based paint.....who knows.

Re: Color of blue in '85?
Mine has been repainted with a cheap enamel job, probably because the original peeled off. It is faded and fuzzy (I call it "suede blue"), and has a few runs in it too. They didn't prep the inside of the bed at all, so the original paint is peeling off under the newer paint. The black primer is showing through in a lot of places, and it really looks bad.

Re: Color of blue in '85?
I had the same problem with my paint before as well. It pretty much sat in a heated garage its whole life, yet it still peeled on the roof and sharp corners like next to the door windows and tailgate.
Long story short... I made sure to sand all the old paint during the bodywork phase.
