'67 project nightmare ls1 swap
Hello everyone. Let me start by introducing myself. I'm the design engineer at Doug Thorley headers. I have always been a big fan of the '67-'72 era chevy trucks and have the pleasure of working on truckin' magazines "67 nightmare". Some of you may already know about the project but I will give the rest of you the skinny...
It's a 67 c-10 1/2 ton It's currently undergoing a frame off resto and has entirely new suspension. It's a ls1 motor swap disc brakes all around. A very nice truck is coming together here Why I'm here... First, let me say that this is not a sales pitch. I just want to let you guys know how we are involved with this truck and our future involvement in our community here. My intention is to build a specific header for this swap in particular. The first of it's kind as far as I know. It's a tri-y design and is designed to work with the classic performance products swap kit. The headers are still under development as we speak and I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOUR INPUT. so, having said all that, please feel free to hit me with all the questions you may have about the truck or exhaust products as I'm here to help. Jamie Joyce (951)371-1744 ext. 253 Now, for a little eye candy... |

Welcome to this amazing forum. I'm sure you will get all the help you could ask for. I know I did, and still am. Looks like an awesome project. I wish I could get some funds for that together for my truck.

These are built so that the very bottom of the collector flange is around an inch above the frame so they will never hit. This is the only shot I have of where the collector terminates but you get the idea.... Thanks for the warm reception everyone! |

Re: '67 project nightmare ls1 swap
Dude, Welcome to the board from TRUCK BUILDER magazine, the other guys. Those headers look awesome!!!!!
Just a little input, how low are they gonna hang.It always looks funny to see a '67-'72 sitting still and notice the headers hanging almost all the way to the ground. Sorry to be the buzz kill here. Just an editorial tech question? Josh

Re: '67 project nightmare ls1 swap
Welcome..
If you look around on the build threads in the truck year boards you will find people putting just about every imaginable GM powerplant into all years of trucks. LSx swaps are very popular for those with the cash to do them and there is a dedicated (obessive?) sub community that is convinced that the best powerplant of all time for a GM truck is a Cadilac mill. I'm betting that you will find a wide range of product opportunities here.

Re: '67 project nightmare ls1 swap
*****in!
bout time somebody got off their arse and made some c10/ls1 headers. Wonder how the fitment would be on an 86, should be pretty close. ps, is that a typhoon intake? Hard to see..

Thanks, figured it would be nice to just purchase a set rather than make something else work. I might be able to make an educated guess if I had good pics of the engine bay of an '86. Yup, that's the typhoon intake/throttle body. Pretty nice piece too. Last edited by Jamie @ Doug Thorley; 01-18-2008 at 10:33 AM. Reason: public school attendee :) |

Re: '67 project nightmare ls1 swap
I used the ECE motor mount setup in my 2 builds. Any idea if your headers will work with them? If you want to send me a set, I'll test fit them for you, . Supposedly Sanderson was working on a set, but it's been almost 2 years.......
