Cool Another Gear for "Merlot"

I've always wanted a gear in this range for "Merlot"

Some day I might have the engine and tranny set-up
where I can use this gear all the way to the limit

Re: Another Gear for "Merlot"

Came today, box says GM 3.42, wish it was warm enough to use it

He said it was used, but it appears to be NEW and never installed

Re: Another Gear for "Merlot"

I just had 3:41's set up in my 12bolt in LowBuck along with a Eaton posi. With my 700R4 at 70mph I am turning 1800rpm it is really nice for freeway driving and teh lower first gear in the 700's make for a 4:11 take off

Kevin,

That's exactly what I was hoping for, I hadn't done the math yet, thanks

Re: Another Gear for "Merlot"

If you have a 700r4 you will be very pleased with the 3.42 gears. As Kevin mentioned the low 1st gear pulls well, and OD is a nice smooth cruising speed.

So when you gonna put them in?

Are you running a 700r now?

Great deal on the R&P for sure!

No 700 yet, but I am running a 3.08 now, and I am looking for a 700.

Re: Another Gear for "Merlot"

Good find. I've been searching for a Gear Vendors unit for mine. (Not the same, I know.) I thought I found one on Craigslist, but the guy never called me back. I left 8-10 messages. Sometimes I hate Craigslist.

Re: Another Gear for "Merlot"

How will the 3.42's work with the .70 overdrive of the 700r?
Have you run the gear chart yet?
What's your tire height?

What are you going to do for the lock-out?

Here's a cool tranny info site for your viewing pleasure.
