finally pulled my cam.... what should i put back in?

well my truck dident slip timing so i guess it is something to do with the distributor... i know the cap is not cracked. i guess ill have to find out when i get my engine back together and in the truck. my plan is just to put a new cam, lifters, timing chain and gears, and get the heads rebuilt. i dont think the engine needs a rebuild but thats just a visual inspection. it just doesent look like its been that long since it was rebuilt cause theres not much wear. and since the previous owner said it had a recent rebuild i figure it wont hurt it. what do you guys think? anyways what cam should i go with? i was thinking just a RV cam but im not sure. any suggestions? i want a lope but not too radical. the way it was was perfect for me. i had a sound clip but it was on my desktop and the HD crashed a while back.
thanks,
John

Re: finally pulled my cam.... what should i put back in?

I would recommend you go to the engine & drivetrain forum and look around. A lot of guys have asked this same question.

My take on it is to contact the tech departments at the cam manufacturers. They know far more than 99% of the guys here. I know that comp cams has an on-line form to fill out. They will need all the info you can provide, the more the better. They have changed cam selection from a best guess to a fine science.

I called Comp Cam directly and the tech gave me a part # over the phone. I purchased directly from them.
