72 spindles on a 69
Well my cousin (member El Jay)'s computer is down and is in the process of getting a new one. He asked me to ask the gurus here because he was sitting in one of his two peekups listening to the radio in his driveway, when a feller drove up in his a '72. He said that he had another '72 on his property that he has parted out everything that he needs and wanted to know if El Jay wanted a set of '72 spindles for his '69, I searched but everything came back "drop spindles".
Long story short (too late ![]() ![]() Thanx JJ

Re: 72 spindles on a 69
The upper ball joints have to be replaced and the tie rods used from the 72. I cannot think of anything else that is needed but if changing to discs, using the whole cross member assembly from the 72 is an option.

You will need to use the upper and lower ball joints from the donor truck, but they will bolt/press in the the '69 control arms. The tie rod ends are the same, but the tie rod (threaded part) on the 71-72's is larger in diameter.

Re: 72 spindles on a 69
I am doing the same swap and I pulled all my parts off my 72 donor truck. Ordered new ball joints from ECE....

Re: 72 spindles on a 69
You also have to trim the steering stop on the 72 spindles, but it's doable. About the tie-rod ends, you will need the whole tie-rod form the 72. The drum brake tie-rod ends are different, and 72 ends will not work with the drum brake inners. I found that out the hard way.

Jerry, this is what I did. So far it is working fine. This picture is from the rear of the passenger side spindle. Trim along the red line.
