newbie from ct
Hey guys, let me first say this board is a great help in my 70 k5 resto project. I live in northeast ct and bought this k5 from denver off ebay. After driving it daily in the summer of 06 we built a garage to keep her in. So this winter I'm starting the resto. My main goal is to make her a nice weekend cruiser. It has a strong 350 with a mild cam, highrise intake and hooker headers. Also there is a 4'' suspension lift. I plan to keep the lift and go with 33's. I removed the 4spd tranny and tcase needs a rebuild along with a new clutch . I would like to paint it the orginal blue. Compared to the eastern blazers I have looked at this one is very solid . I'm not a body guy so I needed something not to far gone. Any comments or recommendations would greatly appreiciated. Hopefully the pics I uploaded come out ok. I had pics of the blazer when I first bought it but someone ( wife)erased them.

Welcome to the boards from Philly, Pa. Great project ya got goin'. Always nice to have a garage to put your project in!I started outside under the shade tree, what a differance a roof makes
 I see some rust in your bed, I might have some original floor left if you need it when you get to that point Overall, that looks like a nice starting point...J.

Thanks guys, hey jaros44sr I'll keep that floor in mind, slim pickings up here for orginal sheetmetal. If anybody has a vendor referral please speak up. I'm looking for new doors and dside fender along with patch panels. Thanks

Welcome, there was a recent excellent post on what it takes to properly take truck doors and convert them to Blazer doors. It should only be a few pages back at this point and may have been turned into a post in the FAQ section.

Good luck with the project. I live in East Hampton Ct and you sure are right when you say there aren't many of these in CT. You may be able to find used parts at the Stafford swap meet in the spring but parts for these are getting rarer all the time.

Holy smokes...I got my K-20 from Minesota! It was originally in Montana. Guess we "East coasties" are gonna be doing alot of this "go west & buy" routine LOL.

Welcome from KY... Be sure to peek in every nook and cranny. That evil rust monster likes to hide. Its awesome that some PO didn't cut the dash for a newer style radio. This board is going to be your best freind while your workin' on your K5. If I were you I'd take VT up on that offer if you need hands on assistance, he knows his stuff.
