Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
So this past weekend I again started bolting on boy panels to ensure the fit, they all look really good, I am going to have to pick up a grille because I gave my mint painted one to a buddy and now it looks like I need a descent painted one for the path I am taking. Since this is technically the better halfs, she has decided to go the beater route but with a fuel injected Vortec and 4L60E and descent inteiror but a rough patina exterior. I also reinstalled the bed and began lookign at all the options. I will get the photo and post it later of the goal.
Since we are going to be takign the patina route I am going to try and get everything assembled and painted in the next two moths, that is the goal. I am a little, well a lot low on exra truck money so I need to wait until the '68 is gone.

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
Painted? You just need to just shove it outside until you're ready to put the motor in it, .

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
That is my plan also, I am going to finish sanding and filling the frame and install the LS1 or Vortec and paint the engine compartment.

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
So I have been on hiatus from the truck working on the other two pick-ups. I think this weekend I am going to work a little more on the frame and get it buttoned up before paint.

Josh-
If you haven't already checked with them you might want to look at what Southern Performance offers that might fit your budget. They are near Atlanta. I purchased an LS1 from them a few years ago and they were nice people to deal with. http://www.southernperformancesystems.com/ |

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
Yeah that is the kind of shot I was looking for, however I see you clipped yours but it appears narrow enough to fit inside the factory rails.

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
Yeah, it's clipped and is for a 55 second series. I would think you can get mounts to make it fit correctly in your frame.

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
It's a tight fit... but the LS1 fits between the factory rails. You might need to get into the firewall to set the motor back far enough to run an electric fan and shroud set-up.

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
Pretty cool idea on the "concept" pic. I think that would inspire me to get back to work on my '54. I'm definitely going the "patina" route next time. I'm tired of being concerned about where I park and if I get a door ding. Keep us posted!

Re: Project "Blacked Out" Begins!
If an LS-1 and trans fall out of the sky and into the frame. Casey and I began bondoing the frame last night, oh how I love bondo (not). I'll try and get this weeks pic posted sometime.
