New to the board with a 62
I bought this 62 a few months ago. PO plumbed the air bags with copper pipe and then sprayed it black. It looked oakey and 100 times harder than air line. I mounted the valves and electical inside a Bud box and keep it shut with a army pistol belt. I'm planning on painting it this summer a satin olive drab with tan wheels.

Re: New to the board with a 62
Dont paint it?? I think it looks good but I'm thinking about going with an army look. Engine is a 350 with a th400. I welded a frame out of 1" square tubing and covered with with I think it was 18g galvanized steel. I haven't finished sheeting the rest of the bed.

Re: New to the board with a 62
The title of this thread is new to the board with a '62, but the first post said you bought this '63 a few months ago, and it has a 4-5-6 hood, just wasn't sure

Re: New to the board with a 62
Actually, that is the correct hood for a 62. The 60 and 61 had the "pinched nose" hood, 62-66 had the hood like is on your truck.
Nice lookin' project ya got there. I think the Army theme will be kinda unique. Keep us in the loop with progress pics! |

Looks good, i would paint at least those cancer spots or you will regret later. The ones at the top corners of your windshield at least, man i thought mine were good then i hit with the wheel to remove paint and broke throu a lot of cancer so i had to weld patches in place. PAIN!!

Re: New to the board with a 62
Quote:
1962 - Similar to previous years but with the following changes. New modern hood without oval openings as in previous years. Character line around body is now continued around sides and front of hood. Parklamp lens is mounted in similar location surrounded by aluminum bezel. Turnsignals are now standard equipment. Grill is similar except center oval has 9 rectangular openings made from 2 vertical and 2 horizontal bars. Lower bar again has CHEVROLET embossed. Single headlamps are now used surrounded by large ribbed bezels. Custom cab trucks trim extended from front fender to rear of bed on fleetside models. A second strip of trim branched off of door trim and extended to rear of bed. Side emblems consist of a red bowtie and the series designation on top of a vertically ribbed background. PS: Welcome to the Board from New Mexico!!
