I need to vent........
Ok as some of you know my truck (84 swb) is currently being painted. The problem is its been in the shop since Sept 20th. Everytime I call its the same ol excuse we need this we need that we should be getting back on it today yadda yadda yadda. Last Tuesday I went and paid them a surprise visit and it looked to me that it was ready for paint this time however he told me it would be ready on Friday I called Friday and never got a return phone call. I'm going to call again this morning. I really want to eat this guys a%# out but I know I need to breath deeply but dang its been 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What to do? Oh did I mention I will be moving in a week out of state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you haven't paid him in full. I'd go get my truck and leave. Find a respectable shop and give them your money. Are they cutting you some kind of deal? 4 months to have a customer wait, seems like they wouldn't be in business long if they did that to everyone.
Definitely suck it up and go get your truck from them. 4 months of waiting has given them too many chances.

No tossing of salads on this board.
I know you're an Arkansas guy and all, but that just doesn't fly here.

LOL.......yes....we are in a "no tossing salads" section of the board.
Hope you get everything worked out with the shop and that it was worth the wait for it.

You think 4 months is long? I've waited almost 2 years to get my truck ready. Yes, I did have a special deal but two years is a bit long don't you think? Every time I paid the guy a visit he said he would start again next week. He started it soon after I brought the truck there but after a few days he stopped and put it aside. after that he would wait for a couple of months to start again only to stop again after two days of work. Finally I started visiting the shop twice a week and I think that started to bother him. He finished it of in a month after that. But one thing is for sure, it was worth waiting for man. The truck look real nice and its al real metal work with very little bondo. Take a look at http://www.73-87.com/friends/sander_calis/sander.htm or my own homepage.

I guess waiting 4 weeks to get mine done wasn't so bad after all! The shop told me it would take 2 weeks, but got slammed with insurance work just I dropped it off. Oh well. That was 4.5 years ago. I've over it!!

Sits for to high for me. I will lower it as soon as my budget allows me to lower it. I just don'know how much I will lower it. With all those annoying speedbumps over here I want to keep a little comfort while driving. What would you suggest?

I know what you mean. I've had my other truck in the shop for over 65 days. I stopped by there last week with a letter in my hand. It gave them two weeks to finish the job or a tow truck is coming by with the authority take it somewhere else. Not only that, I'm not going to pay them what I own them. Then I also mentioned legal means at my discrection to recover costs for towing the truck and having it painted somewhere else. I even took a camera to take pictures to get quotes from other shops. If I pick it up the next shop only has a week to finish the job too.
Hey want a copy of the letter? Let me know and I'll send it you. It's in Word. |

Sorry to hear of all the pain you had to go through with the paint. It seems paint shops are real good and slow, or bad and fast. What's up with this.
And on the chew/eat and pissing thing. You guys are killing me. Paul, you had me laughing so hard I could hardly read. I still regret saying that. Dave, do you ever miss anything someone says wrong? LOL

That is awful taking that long to get painted. I'm hoping when I'm ready I can get it in and back within a decent time frame.
