Rain gutters

I'm still a newbie with the Chevy trucks, mostly worked on early mustangs. I know on the early mustangs, removing the rain gutters above the doors are a major undertaking as these are where body seems are connected. Requires a fair amount of work. My step son is wanting to remove the gutters from his new 68 lwb. From what I can tell with a quick look, it almost looks like the gutters on the chevy are an additional piece of sheet metal spot welded to the door opening. Anyone ever done this?

Re: Rain gutters

They are a separate piece above and behind the doors, easy to remove. Above the wind shield they are the body seam. They can be cut and welded and several of us have done so, but not real easy to do above the windshield.
