Has your truck ever.....
Removed its own dents?
I had a dent in my right door on my 87. I thought about it today went out to pull it out with a shop grade suction cup dent puller...and it was gone. Like it never had a dent. I called my nephew Jason and asked him if I was losing my mind. He said yeah there was a dent there. I told him it was gone and he said you sure didnt pull it already? I know I didnt...and there would have been a mark there if I did. The trucks name now is Christine.

It'd be nice if my truck put its own fuel pump in.

Re: Has your truck ever.....
Never had that happen with a truck...did have it happen with our old 88 Chevy Caprice though. Dad backed into it with the tractor and blade, leaving a fair size dent in the passenger side door. About a month later the dent popped itself out. There was still some minor creasing and damaged paint, but the dent, for the most part, was gone.

Re: Has your truck ever.....
Mine did just the opposite! I pulled a dent out of the passenger rear door on the 90 burb. about a year later I'm walking past it and WTF!!! it's back! I finally get the time open the door up, push the door back out, 6 months later, it's back! I figure the burb must like the dent so I have left it alone since.

Re: Has your truck ever.....
Actually, i have heard that in the southern hemisphere dents pop out on there own, i think it has something to do with the water going down the drain in the opposite direction.

Re: Has your truck ever.....
My 80's old boxside used to bow in or out depending on the weather. It was a significant dent too, you could hear it bang from inside the house when it got colder outside at night.

Re: Has your truck ever.....
Sounds like a NetFlix commercial to me ...........If a dent pops out of a door on a Chevy in Illinois .........a Ferd falls off a cliff in Arizona . I will be curious to see if it comes back next winter .

when i first got my truck the ds window would take forever to roll up. it really took some effort and pulling. i lithium greased the crank and regulator and it hasn't given me grief in months.
same deal with my 3 speed on the floor tranny. even the shortest trips would be stressful when the gears would lock up and buck and chuck down the road. i coated the linkage with lithium grease and that hasn't happened in months either. my truck had sat undriven for 8 mos before i had bought it. just lithium greasing her and driving her pretty regular has cured a lot of it's earlier ailments. if i get a dent i think i'll just spray some lithium grease on it and watch it magically disappear. |

Re: Has your truck ever.....
I'll bet if you lightly push in where the dest 'was', it'll pop in and out....it's called "oil canning".
Metal has memory, so if a dent doesn't have any stressed areas around it (creases), they generally pop right back out and require no additional bodywork.
