Somebody gave the trans am scoop to me a long time ago & its just been sitting up on a shelf. I was going to do this to the 89 fullsize truck I had but never got around to it. Id rather have a cowl hood on the s10 but I dont have any friends that will just bring one over & say here you go.

I used to have a 77 Datsun King Cab I did the same thing with. I glued it to the bottom of the hood with the offset flange and had the same gap around as you do. I looked good IMO.

Cool! It's been awhile since I've seen a shaker scoop.
It actually flows with the lines of the hood quite well. I like it.

Thats pretty cool. I used to have a couple of those laying around ,but got rid of them when I sold my 70 firebird. I wish I had kept one now lol. If you have the pan, you should think about adapting it to the engine and making it functional. It would be easy with a 4.3 just make an adapter to work with the throttle body.
