Hey fellas, hope everyone is doing good!!
Well, I've somewhat made a design for my rims. I know that having a company make my rims would be extremely expensive. I've heard of possibly buying some "hoops" and just welding my design onto the rim. Please shed some light on making some rims, hoop sellers or any suggestions i would greatly appreciate!! Thanks for you time.....D.

Hey bad4587, it sounds cool that you came up with your own design but I would leave the wheel building to the professionals. So much is depending on those wheels and that’s why everyone forks out the big bucks to buy them and you almost never hear of anyone building there own wheels. Just think about it, you’re rolling down the highway at 70 mph and one of those welds starts to crack. Or you don’t get it centered perfectly straight from side to side or up and down and you will never be able to balance that wheel. Unless you have experience building wheels, I would leave it up to the professionals. Just my two cents worth!

I hear ya and agree on "leaving it to the pro's," rolling on crackers ain't safe at all!! I'm really buying up to date rims, i got my eye on a few but don't know which one's just yet.

Making my own rims or rim is just a side project that I'm very curious to see if i can make my design work, even if its just a mock up, it'll be fun. These rims are/were to be part of my 53 chevy pick up build which i'll hopefully be starting this summer.

I know a smalll shop in Oshawa that does machining on rims. My wife slid my 1995 Cutlass Convertable into the curb a few years ago and bent the lower controle arm and cracked the rim. The firts rim I had was bent and they had it all set up in the lathe to machine it. They also spin balance the rim after it's machined.
If your interested I can look them up. Maybe they can machine your pattern from an aluminum blank?
