Bellhousing questions
Does anyone know if I can use the stock 3 speed bellhousing for a 283 motor swap? Also what about lower motor mounts? Can I use the same ones as the 230 that is in it? I plan on changing the upper mounts to new ones but do not know if the part thet bolts to the frame will have to be changed. Also can anyone recomend a good set of headers that will work with my 3 on the tree? Thanks in advance. Dennis
P.S. I will post pics if the swap as soon as I start it |

Re: Bellhousing questions
Well I can tell you that I just got the motor in my 66 today. I swaped a 250 6cyl and installed a 283 v8. I used the all of the 6 cyl stuff bell housing, flywheel, clutch, starter. The rear mounts are the same the front mounts are the same after you remove the extentions for the 6 cyl. The bell has one more mounting hole but the 6 cyl bell works just fine. that way you use your original clutch fork and linkage. I found out all this great info from some very helpfull folks on the website. Hope your engine swap goes a smooth as mine did
