Modified rear fenders?
Was looking for threads on modifying the rear fenders on bagged trucks. I remember seeing at least one somewhere. I did a search but must be using the wrong keywords. Can someone hook me up? Or can you post info on what you've done to your rear fenders to get those big wheels tucked up inside??

Re: Modified rear fenders?
I bought 2 pair and made 1 pair 6" wider. They go to the frame. I also removed the factory bump stops and brackets. I am planning on a c-notch they will have the bumpers.

Re: Modified rear fenders?
Those look good!
I'd like to see how people altered their steel bed floors as well, because once u start extending those fenders, you end up on the ridges of the floor. (Don't you?) So I'd like to see some pics of that. I know there was a build somewhere that had this done. No one has that bookmarked?

To make the bends, scribe a line where you want the bend to start, drill .0625" holes every .125" on the scribed line. Once the holes are drilled, gently tap the end of the metal down (you don't want to cave it in so don't be too aggressive). Now the other side of the runner will need to be 'flattened' to be the same height of the flat portion of the floor. You can cut it out & replace it w/a flat piece of sheetmetal, or you can make a cut down the center of the runner & hammer the two sides together until they are flat & touch each other (leave enough gap to properly weld the seam solid).

Re: Modified rear fenders?
Great info there Scoti! That's exactly what I needed. I'm a noob at all this stuff, but I'm building lots of files and gonna take my time doing it.
Wasn't there also a post about cutting out the section between the outer panel and the fender well to get some more room?

Re: Modified rear fenders?
Thanks Scoti, that was the one I was thinking of. Still one of my favorite trucks of all time. I saved the pics from this thread for reference. Too bad most of the other pics are gone. That could have been a step-by-step guide for me (for my whole truck), but a lot gets lost in the translation w/out the pics...
