Newbie saying Hi

Hi all I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself and my project. I have a 62 short wide with a partial frame. The PO cut the front of the frame to put a camaro front clip on and never did. Anyway my plans are to put the 62 body on an 86 4x4 Suburban frame. As part of the frame swap I also plan to make the two beat up shortbeds I have into a long bed. I figure this will be the best way to get what I want, I have always wanted a 62 longbed 4x4.

Anyway anyone have any advice or experience with a frame swap like this?

Re: Newbie saying Hi

Thanks I think it will trun out pretty good. I have been working with 4x4 Suburbans and Blazers for a while yet always wanted a truck like Dad had when I was a kid. So I decided it was time to combine the two.

Oh and I forgot to mention I have a Caddy 500 waiting to go in as the power plant.

Re: Newbie saying Hi

Welcome from North Idaho! Sounds like a good project....I put a '62 body on a '76 frame some time ago. You'll need to build some new body mounts on the frame. Post up some pics when you can.

Re: Newbie saying Hi

Wow thanks for all the welcoming response. I don't have any pics as of now but I will begin working on stripping the Suburban down to the frame. My plan is to get the frame prepped and cleaned up, then start working on mounting the 62 body on it.
