Some pics of my junk...

Well, I've been on here for a while and haven't posted any pics yet so I figured it was about time. I haven't done much to the 64 lately besides getting it back inside the freshly reroofed shed. Life(or is that wife?) keeps getting in the way of my progress. It has a 66 250 with a later model 3 speed right now. The plan is to put a 4 barrel/split exhaust from a 68 OHC Sprint 250 on it, replace the tranny with a NP833 and then replace the stock rear with a 3.42 Posi out of a 78 C10. While it is torn apart, I will be completely rewiring, doing all sheetmetal work and paint. I haven't decided on a color yet. I keep swinging between semi flat black, a flat light blue or ... who knows!?!?!? The front has already been converted to 5 lug disc with a later model plastic/aluminum MC. Anyway, heres a couple pics...

YEA! LOTS of work!!
I'd go with that Royal Blue color - It'll look great with your new Chrome!!
The Fawn/Champagne stock interior color looks good with that too!

Re: Some pics of my junk...

Thanks for the comments guys. I know it looks bad now, but in time...

The first is a pic of the motor.

The second is my 66 LWB w/no motor or transmission

Third is a dash view of the 66

And finally a quick shot of my Dads' 65 on jackstands waiting on a new clutch to be installed

Re: Some pics of my junk...

I wouldn't say it looks bad now, looks like a good start. also looks like a fun, yet hard journey ahead, would you want it any other way? I just don't think it would mean the same to me if I had the money to just go spend $20,000 on one already restored. the journey, the frustration, the highs and the lows are all part of it for me!

Re: Some pics of my junk...

Thought I would post of my recent progress.

The '64--I have the bed and front clip completely removed now. The plan is to gut the cab out , replace the body bushings and then start on the sheetmetal. Looks like this is gonna be a loooooonnnngg process, so I decided to throw the '66 together...

The '66--I pulled a 250/3 spd setup out of a 71 C10 that I bought to use for parts. The cab was crushed (by a tree) but the drivetrain was in great shape. That got the ol' wheels turnin' and I decided to use that drivetrain in the '66. I finished pulling the combo out of the '71 this afternoon and now it is bolted in the '66-made some great progress today, kinda stoked about it!! I still have to hook up the starter (some knucklehead clipped the wires) and figure out the throttle setup. The '71 had a cable throttle and the '66 is mechanical. I was also hoping that the tranny shift rods would hook up to the column but I think I might have to do a little modifying there too (or just use a floor shifter). All of that will have to wait until Friday. Gotta work the next 2 days.

Dads' 65--Put another clutch in it the other day and he is ready to roll again. There are some other things that need to be addressed on it but that will come in time...

Anywho, that's what I've been up to lately. Can't wait till Friday...

Re: Some pics of my junk...

Yeah, I know, I forgot the stupid camera. I honestly didn't figure I would get much accomplished on the '66 today so I wasn't really worried about the camera. I'll get some good pics on Friday.

Yeah, it's a '56 210 2 dr sedan. The rear stock framerails have been narrowed 4" per side and the rear pan area has been cut out. I bought it 10-12 years ago as an aborted race car project from a local Navy guy that moved away. It's still waiting on me patiently. You can't see it in the pic, but behind the black 65 on jackstands there is a '55 150 2dr sedan that is in decent shape, just needs drivetrain(and to be put back in the shed). Also in the pic of the '66 lwb, if you look behind the bush, there is a '56 BA for parts(it's ROUGH). If you look close in the background behind the '64 in the shed there is a shelf that is FULL of shoebox stuff too. These are all things that I have bought along the way in the last 15-18 years(since High School) and have great plans for, if I live long enough.

Thanks for the kind words 283 man.

Re: Some pics of my junk...

Didn't get as much done today on the '66 as I had hoped. I did get the clutch hooked up, the throttle linkage engineered and some other odds and ends done. Hooked the starter up and apparently there are more issues with the wiring than just the ones that were clipped to the starter. The key does nothing. Got too late to work on it anymore today. I did hook up a test/push button switch just to hear it turn over in the truck. I just couldn't stand it. Here's a pic of the motor in the truck.
