Throttle linkage HELP NEEDED ASAP

I have a '64 with a 283 and I just put a brand spankin' new 4 barrel Edelbrock carb on it today. The linkage is the rod type with the two springs and the rod is too short (when the linkage is loosely attached to the carb it is in the WOT position). I bought a kit to switch over to a cable linkage but is there an easier way? I don't have much time to lend to this problem do to the fact that it's my DD and I have to go to work tomorrow.

Go to the hardware store and buy a piece of all thread the same diameter and thread size as you have now. Cut it to the lenght you need.

X2. You can buy one from a parts store but you may pay double.

This is the one I got at kragen I think. But here is the summit link. Its pretty nice.

Yes... thats what I thought. Here is the linkage at kragen.

However... If you have the cable setup you might just want to go with that. Unless you plan on returning it or something.

Re: Throttle linkage HELP NEEDED ASAP

You can get smooth 1/4" rod at any hardware store. Bend each end, making the length bend to bend 12". Drill holes for cotter pins to hold washers out on the bent ends. This is what I did on the exact same setup.

Re: Throttle linkage HELP NEEDED ASAP

I got some allthread and bent it to the right position and it came out great. Too bad I'm not gonna be keeping the new carburetor on it...
