Re: help me asap!

First of all,it`s the other way around. You`re running the power to the carb and looking for a place to run it from.It just helps to think the same way the current works.
Do you have a test light?Clap it to the terminal on the coil that doesn`t go to the distributor.Tun the key on and ground the test light. If it lights you found the supply side and will be a good source for 12v when ignition is operating/truck is running.

Re: help me asap!

you can run it from any 12v power source that has power when the key is on.

Re: help me asap!

The starter would not work very well. The large terminal is hot all the time and the small wire is only hot when you are trying to start it. The coil power supply wire should be the closest unless you have a different setup. The choke needs to heat up only when the key is on.

We really discourage responses like that on this forum.

The + is supplied 12V the - is just a ground. You can use the coil if you like, but I would suggest going to your local parts store and buying a cheap 12v tester. Turn the key to the 'ON' position and get under your dash where the fuse box is. Clamp the black wire of the tester to some solid steel (like the bracket that hold the bottom of the dash, steering column, anywhere) and press the tip of the tester to each terminal until you find one that lights it up. Make sure that it does not light up when the key is in the 'OFF' position. If the terminal you want to use is being used by something else, go to your parts store and splice a wire into it with a connecter like this: and run it to the choke.

There are many ways to get 12V where you want it, but I think this is the easiest. Dont get carried away though, you can make your wiring under your dash a jumbled up mess if you do this too often. I hope that helps! Let us know if you need any more clarifying. We also have an electrical system specific forum here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=64

Re: help me asap!

You should be able to splice it with your light switch wire.

Re: help me asap!

I didn,t know there was any place on a light switch to hook a choke wire. There usually are spare terms on the fuse block for things like this. Some are marked bat. & some are marked ign. You want to use the ign. one & run it through a inline fuse holder with about a 10 amp. fuse. Hook this to the pos. term on the choke & run a small wire from the neg. term. to a screw on the carb.

I have an Edelbrock 600cfm carb with an electric choke and the choke wire is spliced in with the wire running to the light switch and it works fine. Like what was stated above though, I wouldn't suggest doing this alot, otherwise you'll have a bundled mess of wires under the dash.

That's great. I'm glad it works for you.
