a/c components
Hey guys. My truck came with factory A/C. Everything is there, except the compressor which I removed and have in my backyard. I know I need to replace the rubber lines and a couple hard lines, along with the compressor. What else do I need to replace that are wear items to get my system in tip top shape? I want this thing blowing out -20* air

You should probly replace the dryer/filter, whatever they call it. I dont have an a/c system on my truck so I dont know, but there is probly some O-rings/seals in the system that you should replace while your doing everything else.

Well since the system has been opened up, I would flush the condensor and evaporator, replace the rubber line on the compressor (it's really two lines in one, one to the condensor, one from the evaporator). I would also replace all of the o-rings (the only connection you won't break apart otherwise would be the liquid line to the condensor on the passenger side) and the orifice tube where the liquid line goes into the evaporator.
I would refill the system with R-134a since its plentiful and cheap. You won't get -20* with it though, the boiling point of R-134a at 20 psig is about 22*F. If you are going to do this work yourself, make sure you have a good vacuum pump and draw a deep vacuum (more than 29# Hg) for about an hour before you fill with refrigerant and make sure to remove all of the old mineral oil from the compressor and add some R134a friendly synthetic oil to the compressor and drier before you draw the vacuum.
