Post Shaving door handles

If I bought a kit whats the easiest way to shave the door?

1)buy a block plane and shave until desired thickness or...
2)buy a good quality Gillette razor and some shaving cream for sensitive skin and...no,no,no

Not really sure what you are asking? Just take the handle off and weld the holes and bondo it smooth.
