Oil Pressure or Oil Temperature Gauge? What's more useful and Important?
Hey everybody, I have slight dilemma I'm unsure what gauge to use on my aftermarket gauge cluster. I have 3 3/8 Autometer Phantom Oil pressure gauge#5829 and also a 3 3/4 Autometer Pro-Comp Oil Temperature gauge#5510 and I'm not sure which would be more useful, vital, and most important. I like both of them but not sure which way to go. Any help is always greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sorry I'm unable to upload the pics of the gauges.

I would go with the oil pressure gauge myself, are you racing or planning on severe use/towing?

Classic Bowties, No racing or towing I just got a good deal on both gauges really wasn't sure which one to use that's all. Would it look strange if I have both the oil temp and smaller oil psi (2 1/16) gauge incorporated into the dash?

Pressure!!! It is much more important to have verification of pressure.

Re: Oil Pressure or Oil Temperature Gauge? What's more useful and Important?
I agree that pressure is more critical however last week I helped a guy swap a knocking vortec 350 out of his 99 Sub for a good bone yard vortec 350. His 99 Sub has an oil cooler. Other than the hoses being a PITA to deal with the oil cooler is the easiest conversion I've ever seen. You take off the oil filter adapter and bolt on the oil cooler adapter/filter assembly. The hoses then ran to a tank on the driver's side of the radiator, just like the tranny lines on the other side.
Long story short, if you're worried about oil temp, putting on an external cooler and hoses would be a really easy thing to do.
