1986 C30 guage question

We have a 86 c30 dually. My dad took the interior out and fixed and replaced everything. It origanally had a oil light. The new instument cluster has a guage in it and will not work with the original sending unit the guage goes all over the place. What needs to be changed or done to make the guage work?
Or does it need to be rewired to work the guage?

Re: 1986 C30 guage question

The wiring harness is different between a warning lite and gauge package;you will need an oil sender and a temp sender on the engine;you can then splice in to the harness plug that came with the gauge package ...a factory manual is a asset about this time ....

Ditto on what was posted above. Although you need to modify the pins on the current plug. It is just a matter of repinning it with the correct senders.
