U-bolts

I am looking for rear U-bolts for my 72 Blazer and am having a hard time locating them. They are the squared off style that go over the spring pack...is this stock? I need them to be long enough so I can put in a zero rate block also. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: U-bolts

Any reason you wouldn't want to switch to the flipped style? This puts the nuts and the threads on top of the spring. Helps a bit with ground clearance. There's a bunch of vendors that can get you ones in that style.

Re: U-bolts

I have this same issue with my 71 Blazer 4x4. The 73-up trucks have 2.5" wide springs compared to our 2" wide springs so I don't know if the upper plates on the 73-up trucks will work with our trucks?

I guess just a little less work and a little less $$. I did see that the other style is readily available, but didn't see that much of a benefit for the effort of grinding off the old mounts, but since it is so hard to find the stock bolts in a longer length, I'll probably opt for the flip style.

Re: U-bolts

Did you check out LMC? I got all of the correct U-bolts and the squared off ones correct from them for my 1970 blazer. Just a suggestion...

Re: U-bolts

I bought squared off style U-bolts for my '72 leaf spring two-wheel drive from Early Classic, but the four-wheel drive U-bolts are different.

WHOA dude, there is no grinding off the old mounts required. It's strictly "plug and play" if you will. Take the old off, put the new on.

Yep. I think the kits run about 70, includes plates and bolts.

I just assumed (I know never assume) that the bracket on the bottom of the axle tube was welded on. That's good news!

I did look and found several vendors who carry the stock u-bolts, but I didn't know if they would be long enough with the zero rate blocks.
