dam. nice work.. im just learning how to weld... and i thought i did good on my truck floorboards.. from the bottom my cab looks like a quilt... i absolutlely hate those LMC replacement panels.. very nice job.. teach me sometime when u get a chance..

Come on down some time. It should only take 5 minutes to show you everything I know.

I went and picked up the Vintage Air kit today. I think I did good on it. It was new in the box, the guy changed his mind for some reason. Not pictured is the oval controller with 3 knobs and a slide. It's a Gen2 mini. I'm not going to use the polished compressor. I will be getting a serpentine belt kit that comes with the comp.







Man, it takes courage to let your neighbor (sdailey)to cut on your truck.
He did a great job and is some good help. I'm getting him prepped so he can do most of the work on his cab.



Yours truly in action. We got the left end plate welded on and lined up. Now I have to mount the dash around the column then work on the center section.

Thanks. I've got a 383/700R4. I was going to run 373 gears, but I think with a overdrive it will be safe to run a 411 gears down the highway.

I didn't get that good of a deal. You stole that kit. I just want something that can show and go. Mostly original with a few twists. I don't know what catagory that would be.

I got a little done tonight. I got the center tied together temporarily until I pull the dash out so I can weld completely. As you can tell I got the top patch welded in.





I need a little input on this. I'm going to redesign the center section. I'm putting in a pop out DVD player and the oval AC control. I might put a eyeball vent there also or just make a custom panel under the dash to hold the vents. I'm not sure yet. I know the cardboard has squared off corners but I will maintain the rounded edges like the rest of the dash.

I would make a cover that matches the shape of the dash exactly, and then folds down to access the stereo.
maybe put a square ac vent where the original radio was.

I thought I'd share something that can save you some $$. Bodyshops throw alot of metal away. So instead of buying metal there is alot of useable metal that can be used in fabricating stuff. If you know someone in a shop ask them to see if you can get some. Even if you don't know anyone ask the manager. You might get lucky. I picked this piece up today. It's a piece of uniside that wasn't used due to us sectioning the part. It has some good rolls and contours to it that I can use to form up my center section of my dash. I dont have a sheetmetal brake yet so this works pretty because the bends are there. It's also good when your on a tight budget.

I've been a little lazy. I finally got back at it tonight.

I got a wood heater this weekend now I've got to install it.



I got the center area framed up. Don't laugh to hard at my fab skills. I don't have a brake. I could have formed with hand tools, but think this was the easiest way. I used the radius edges off of the uniside that posted a pic of a few post ago to make the frame. The corners of the frame blend right in with the curves of the dash to make the lines flow together.



Most everything is tacked in place. I've still got the right side panel to do. Once everything is welded in place I'm going to removed the brace running thru the center behind the radio to open the area so it will be easy to access.



I used another part of the 65 dash for the bottom of this enclosure.

I love the way you use other parts to make it all come together. I do that too because it's just easier to be resourceful than building from scratch. But I did finally order a sheet metal brake a few weeks ago. Still waiting for it to show up...

I got some goodies today. I got these 2.5" drop spindles from CPP and also the tranny crossmember. I test fitted my ball joints as seen in the pix. Everything is for a 72.
