Re: old skool suicide doors plan?
I dont know what you mean by old school, I am assuming not using an aftermarket hinge setup, but this is the way I did mine back in 04:
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=11640 And yes I know it a Ford. Anyhow, looking back at it, would I do it again. Not like this. Things I would have changed, I would have planned it out better, used an aftermarket suicide hinge set up, been a bit more patient (this was my daily driver so I kinda rushed to get it back on the road). And finally would have used a locking mechanism to avoid the doors opening at 50 mph down the road. Don't get me wrong it was functional and strong, There are a whole bunch of article in several mags that go over the process. |

Re: old skool suicide doors plan?
It's not that hard with factory hinges but is easier with newer kits you can get. Just be sure you get some that are narrow enough to get into the door pillar. If you get the standard ones they're a little tough to spread out far enough apart and keep in a vertical plane (supports door better). Hagan makes some narrower kits.
Basic installation is easy though, just follow the basics here: http://www.*****************/content/...0-daily-driver and use common sense. Older picture after I'd done mine: |
