Making some progress on OLRED66

Here is a couple pictures of the dash cluster with a factory tach, as well as, a retrofitted clock from a 70's Chevy. I also swapped out the factory '66 Custom steering wheel and chrome horn ring assembly for a '60-'65 factory Custom steering wheel and chrome horn ring assembly. Not much difference, but I like the '60-'65 a little better.

It also has a Classic Truck auto floor shifter from Lokar for shifting the Turbo 400.

I just received some pictures of the front sheet metal being painted for OLRED66. My friend Kris at Elite Speed & Custom is doing the primer, paint and clear-coat for me and I should have it in a week or so.

It's always nice to see paint going on. When ever I feel like I'm not getting anywhere I just paint something and it picks me up and motivates me. Can't wait for more pix.

The factory/dealer-installed tachometers were an R.P.O. (regular production option) in the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, but I am not sure of the production numbers and I don't have my R.P.O. literature to tell what this option costs from the dealer, but I don't see them too often.

They are currently being offered in the aftermarket for under $200.00, including the wiring harness and they are a direct bolt-in, so it is an easy fit-up.

Your dash looks good, really good!! I remember you mentioning the clock in the other thread; it fits in well even though its from later options.

Hey Tony, did the dash knobs come without the chrome ring also? Upgraded option or something? My 'burb has those knobs, but no chrome. I received a box of parts with the truck and found 1 knob with the chrome. My pick-up must have GMC knobs, large and completely different.

I used a fellow that used my unit. I sent it to him and he sent it back with the conversion complete. If this company told you they will not use your original unit, then maybe that is not the company I used, so I will see if I can find the correct information.

protrash, thanks for the compliment. Standard dash knobs were black and the Custom knobs were black with chrome. The '60-'63 knobs are larger diameter and the 4-5-6 knobs are smaller diameter, like in the photos.
