Whats the correct way to raise a bed floor ??
Hey guys, what are yall opinions on this? I need to raise the bed floor on my '68 short fleet (wood floor) by 3 inches. Could i fabricate (8) 3 inch spacers to weld to the frame at the mounting points and relocate the front panel and inner bedside rails up 3 inches. Of coarse something would be needed to cover the exposed area above the rear bed sill, but thats pretty straightforward. What about the wheeltubs ?
Any input would be helpful. How would you do it ? ![]() I dont mind the work involved, it just want it to look right.

hey chris, this is what i did with angle iron, but it was way more than 3" but you get the idea. then the wood would still fit in the original places around the wheel tubs.

Re: Whats the correct way to raise a bed floor ??
On a wood floor truck, it is super easy.
- Get a set of the step side angle pieces that mount to the inner bedsides. Mount them 3" higher than the stock bedside flange. - Assemble the bed floor as normal. You will have to re-drill the wheel tub mounting flanges in the bedsides 3" higher. There is also a small lip on the tubs that will have to be trimmed off so they will sit flush with the inner bedside. - Use composite body lift pucks 3" tall- common for 4wd Jeeps and the like and 3" longer than stock carriage bolts to mount the bed. Here's a pic of mine in progress- sorry no finished pics- but it is done and works well...

Yep. I sectioned 3" out of the rear stake pockets. You will need to re-drill for the mounting bolts behind the taillights as well.
