headlight relay install

I got a dual realy holder and relays a while back and installed them today. I followed the how too found in thr FAQ section. Verey easy upgrade.
I didnt want to cut the old harnnes so I used spade conecters and just pluged them in. (as per chifs tip ) I also used a 30 amp circuit breaker instead of a fuse.
I didnt post any pics becuse the faq has them. But I do recomend this easy diy upgrade. Before at idle, when I would put on the head lights the volt meeter would drop to 12volts, now it drops to just a hair under 14 volts !!
do the relay upgrade its cheep and easy.
dual master cylider upgrade is next on list

Re: headlight relay install

Yeap...that is exactly what I did when I first got my truck....

I am a BIG fan of relays...so three went into truck

I installed them here:

The idea is to hide them behind the covers, which never went back on my truck.

Re: headlight relay install

I am a big fan of Relays too.
I use them on Headlights and big horns.
Nothing like full power to assy, and saves the switches too.

Nice using a circuit breaker, never stuck in the middle of nowhere without lights.

Good idea slepysal,
What do your relays look like? I'm really sad if I don't get to see them tonight. It is something I have wanted to do for awhile.

Re: headlight relay install

I thought it looked like trunk paint, John. I know trunk paint isnt water proof so I thought there was something up with it.

Thanx for the update pics slepy......I may tackle that soon. Im going over to my buddies house to get some other wiring issues solved. He was a GM tech for 25years.....he's seen a couple wires before.
