4x4 availability

I cant say too much about chopping trucks up. The 64 GMC started its life as a GMC of coarse, but for a while, lived as a Chevy. None the less, Ive pretty much started to prostreet this truck. Point Im getting at, Im also looking for a totally stock, untouched 60-66 K10. Are they still out there, and were there alot to begin with? How hard are they to find?

Hello Wolfinthesnow,

Have you been over to the 4x4 forum on this board and checked out the thread (Post Pics, Let's See How Many 60-66 4x4's Are Out There). It will give you an idea of availability. If you haven't go on over and check it out. Enjoy!

Re: 4x4 availability

They are out there. Not as easy to find as the 2 wd. If you do find one for a good price, I would jump on it! Check out Gilberts thread in the 4x4 section, lots of nice 60-66 4x4's!

Thas fellas. Those are some nice rigs. Never realized that there were alot of 4x4 carryalls as well. Pics just made my disease worse. Like trying to ignore an elephant in my living room. I want one.

Re: 4x4 availability

Are there any websites that display the 4x4 and its factory running gear, specs, type of transfercase, frontend and what not. I have a 63 shop repair manual and it tells a little about it. Timken T221 transfercase, cant remember the front end. Were there any other running gear options once the truck got bigger? (K20, K60.).

Re: 4x4 availability

I'm now in love with that panel too. Who doesn't want a stock K series? Seen a few offered on CL here in Portland, but never cheap, or always abused.

If you're planning on 'wheeling, you might be better off converting something. Dana 60's and corporate rears can be had at reasonable prices, NP 205 t-cases are a relatively easy install, and leaf springs are as plentiful as they are practical.

Plus that way, you can start with any body and frame you want.
