Re: motor mount question

The motor mounts would be whichever you prefer to use as either will work fine. The rear crossmember is for a stock style manual tranny/bellhousing. If you go with an auto it will need to be removed.

Re: motor mount question

Use the stock mounts. It is easier. YOu will have to trim the frame back for the later ones to work.

Re: motor mount question

The tranny crossmember is factory for an SM420, granny low, 4-speed and it will not work with an automatic transmission. The motor perches from the '64 are a direct bolt-in.

Good luck with your build and let us know what you end up using.

Re: motor mount question

Putting the bolts up thru the old style perches can really be a pain. You may have to have someone move the engine up and down and muscle it around while you are underneath the truck. I have a set of the newer style mounts and will probably use them when I re-do my 'burb engine.

Re: motor mount question

I tried using the newer style mounts and found out that the newer frames are about 3/4 of an inch taller IIRC.....so I say go with the ones from the '64.
that trans cross member will need to come out I believe, you will either need to remove the rivets to get the whole thing out, or use a torch and cut the member out...

In your case I think I would use originals. I used the mounts out of my 73' donor truck but, as Joe said they were taller so, I cut and re-welded then I was able to buy headers for the 73-87 models that seem to fit a whole bunch better.
