Coys on a black truck?

Anyone have a pic of a black truck with Coys C5's in Grey . I am going to raise the front of the black truck about an inch since it went too low and I am looking at Coys C5's in 20x8 and 20x10 . I would prefer a polished wheel but if I end up buying Coys they will be Grey . They seem to be the ones I like . I cant afford Vintecs , Intros , etc . I would love to have Vintecs since I know what they look like on a black truck (N2TRUX) but they are out of my range so the Coys are my second choice .

Re: Coys on a black truck?

Just a question,... Why are you going to raise it up? I thought it sat pretty nice.
Also,... SCOTI had his set of grey centered Coys (wheels and tires) for sale a while back.

Re: Coys on a black truck?

I think the grey center of the Coys would work well on a black truck. I've seen pics of cars w/them & some satin blk trucks, but I can't recall any pics of a shiny blk 73-87 w/grey Coys.

As for the ones I had . ...... They're now taking up residence under a 79 Blazer w/a 3/5 drop.

Re: Coys on a black truck?

I am thinking about buying a different set of coils for the front . I bought new 1 inch drop springs but I think they are giving more than 1 inch . Mt Tan truck was nowhere near this low with original 30 year old springs and the same 2.5 inch spindles .

As far as Scottis Coys , I seen the ad on the parts board a day late .
There is a member on the board that has Grey coys on a shiney black 57 Chevy Hardtop . They look good buy that is a car . They look almost period correct on that application .

Re: Coys on a black truck?

Your talking about putting them on the truck in your avatar, right? It's hard to keep up with your collection, jk. Didn't you just put that combo together? If so, I'm with you by the way, but why the change of heart?

Re: Coys on a black truck?

I think the grey center'd 5-spokes look great on a black vehicle. Polished looks nice too, but I'm getting burned out on that look. Plus, the grey centers will be cheaper than chrome or polished.

I'm thinking about going with the similar combo (18x8 front, 18x10 rear). I like the Big and Little look, and I'm going with 18" because I can't find a 20" rear tire that works for me.

I just bought this setup in Sept/Oct of 08. I was looking into a set of 20 inch Intros a few weeks back and bolted one on my truck . It looked good to me . I would have really liked to get them but I would have had to change too much about that set . Thats why I am looking right now .

Thanks for the pic Ken . Gives me something to work with . I listed my wheels on the 67-72 parts board . If I sell them , I will find something in a 20 .

Re: Coys on a black truck?

I would hold out on changing the springs until you bolt on the 20's. It doesn't look too low in the above picture.

Re: Coys on a black truck?

What size are the rims on there now?

I have a black truck as well and am interested in getting either the grey or flat black coys. What backspacing are you going to run?

Re: Coys on a black truck?

Right now it has 17's on it . The Intro pictured is a 20 by 8.5 with 5.75 inches of backspacing and a 255/35/20 Nitto . Here are the current 17's.

Nice Truck . Thanks for the pic. The wheels look a little more silver against a black background which is what I really wanted to know . I like it . Im not really into the black wheels on a black vehicle thing .

I'm curious.... I will have to look through some of my pics at home to locate the picture, but at a local car show there was a newer 88-98 black truck with grey Coys. When I looked at them up close, the color was more of a pewter than a grey such as the TTIIs.

Can anyone confirm what I'm trying to say, or have I lost it? I have seen other Coys that were eventually color matched to a vehicle so maybe the set that I saw were repainted. After seeing this truck I drew back my idea of running grey Coys on a black truck.

Re: Coys on a black truck?

It really depends on the color of the truck they are mounted on. I don't know if this will show up right or not, but these are the same wheels. I thought they had been repainted, but the owner said they were straight from Coy's.

On the silver truck they look like they are lighter. On a black truck the look darker.

Coys are on a few vehicles but it is partially because of the cost . The Intros are $2800 plus for a set of 20's . Coys with tires will still leave money in your pocket over the Intros. I have even looked at Centerline Retros . Not too badly priced . If I sell the 17's I will find something in a 20 . I am a little old school so the cast looking center in the Coys looks period correct to me . I found a couple on Centerlines site that look good .
