Stopped by the transmission shop yesterday and my guy put a new kick-down cable assembly on the TH350 (that was still in the trunk of my Chevelle).
Gave him a C-Note for his pump check labor, aluminum dust (from the weld prep) clean-up time, and the cable. I never mind taking care of my vendors - even those who remind me (again) not to be a dope Saturday morning when making the second mating attempt. Mac.

The transmission is now mated with the ‘283’ and the power train is now ready to go into the truck. It took a couple of tries and a bit of doing - but the torque converter ‘clunked’ its way into position and it was a little surprising just how far back it actually goes. Having the TH350 setting totally level on a nice sturdy pallet on the garage floor and making sure the motor was the same (in both directions) made all the difference in the world.
Well, that and not hurrying. Mac.
