Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

If you are selling it, remove as much of the non-stock add ons as possible. remove the bug-guard, the tool box, the bed cover, mudflaps, the fog lights... all those extras take away from the truck. make it as clean as possible for sake of selling it. Keep the bumper guards because they are factory.

it probably will cost more than it is worth to get new wheels or repaint over the stripes. Those wheels and the white walls are not too bad, it gives the truck kind of a mexican low-rider look...

If you keep it, do all the above and repaint over the stripes and definitely lose that corny hood ornament.

BUT... if your selling it... ask whatever you want for it, if no one wants to give that for it, then make the improvements and see what happens.

PS nice truck btw

People love a deal...even with stripes.

and that is one nice truck.

Sounds kinda goofy, but when I look at that truck I don't see the paint I see the clean body. Almost guaranteed it would sell for twice as much out here and you'd probably have some fun!!!

The stripes looks well done, just does not fit with how the truck was finished. The rally stripes are meant to go with a hi-performance look. It seems like this truck was done up more along the grampa look, or bling look.
The rims look like the fit better on a car not a truck, IMHO.
The hood ornament.. What were you thinking? I love the old car hood ornaments, but this just does not fit. The bug catcher, well it works on a road trip, just to keep the windshield cleaner during the trip, but I would take it off afterwards. It only takes a few minutes to remove, so it is not a big deal.
The bed cover, it is hard to really get a good view from the photos. Some are nice, and if it didn't require making holes in the bed then it can be removed or left in place.
Other than that, it looks like a very nice up kept truck. Another plus, it is a California truck, with most likely little surface rust and not needing major parts replaced.

Ok enough said, I'm stepping of the soap box.

Not hatin' on your truck bud.....these are just my opinions.

re-paint the hood and it looks like the cowl panel is painted with stripes too.
remove hood ornament
keep the bumper guards because it probably scratched the chrome on the bumper where they rest
remove bug deflector
remove those fog light things under the grille
Put some factory wheels on there, either steelies with hubcaps or full wheel covers or some ralley wheels.
My 2 cents Trevor
THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

All of your feedback has been helpful. This is what I came away with.
  • Get rid of the stripes (for sure)
  • dump the fog lights (for sure)
  • change rims (maybe$$) i have original hub caps.
  • dump bug guard (more than likely)
  • dump the bed cover (i will let the new owner deal with that)
  • keep the brush guards
  • oh!!! did i mention that i should get rid of the stripes.

I respect your opinions and will post pictures once it's ready to go on the block.

Thanks again!

Re: Keep the Stripes or Paint over?

That sounds just about right, I think it would look great with the original hubby's.
