47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
I've heard from alot of people that the 5 windows are better to get because they are more "desirable" but I like the 3 window. So what do you like?

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
Reading your other thread, I was thinking a poll would be a great idea. I was thinking a 3 or 5 window poll was already done a while back, but I couldn't find it.
and, again....I'm a 3 window guy all the way.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
I didn't vote because I like them both. For a hopped up streetrod truck---I like the 3 window. For a more stock or elegant truck---I like the 5 window. I will say though, that the corner windows on the 5 window cab are pretty much useless. My dad bought my twin brother and me a 51 5 window shortbed Chevy when we were 14---We still have it---we are now 45. I also have a 54 5 window Chevy that I am still working on.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
That is a real tough one !!!!!
So I bought one of each !! If you drive in traffic you will love the 5 window. I think the 3 window has a bit more of Hot Rod appeal, but not much!

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
I keep hearing that five windows are more rare.Maybe when they were new production. These days I see far more Five window trucks in mags and at shows. My vote is for the three window.Looks older, looks more rodder and the five windows glass is funny looking.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
I like the 5 window a little better, however the 3 window looks better to me as a drag truck. Either way, you can't lose.

I'm a 3 window guy, but 5 window is better if you have to back up a trailer a lot.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
I've always liked the five window myself. The '49 I used to have had deer etched in the corner glass. It was definately an attention getter.

3 window for me, it keeps the rounded lines better.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
Have many of both. But have always liked the look of a 3 window better. Even though I do look out of my corner windows alot when driving my 54.

Re: 47-54 AD 5 or 3 window
My preference runs towards the three window as I have mine chopped. I don't really think the five window trucks look good chopped.
The five windows were the "Deluxe" cabs and usually had a few more goodies from the factory while the three windows were the base cab and were often pretty basic as far as equipment goes from the factory. I learned to drive in a 54 five window with a hydromatic. two tone teal green and white and probably right at the top of the line as far as 54 trucks went. I wish I had it to restore today. For a hotrod or custom truck I don't think it matters that much but If I were to restore a truck to showroom stock I'd want to start with a five window. |
