47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

I'm in the process of trying to finish up project "49 No Buck$" and am looking for a low budget electric wiper motor. I know of all the aftermarket stuff, but it will defeat the purpose of my no budget truck. Everyone has wrecking yards around. Any ideas? Brad

Re: 47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

I picked up one from a Jap rear window wiper and when I got it home it only had a 90* sweep and I think we need one that has at least 120*, keep us posted on your search

I was going to check out the Blazer motor, but I'd like to see the Dodge if anyone has seen that!

Re: 47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

A 90 degree sweep might work if you put one directly on each wiper and wired them individually. No seriously that's what my dad claimed they used to do back in the day when eliminating vaccum wiper systems.

Re: 47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

Before I found a stock GMC unit I used a mid 60 Chevy truck wiper motor in my 59. Had to modify the transmission arms and make a bracket but it worked fine.

Talking Re: 47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

well this thread died rather quick. i am possible going to make alot of you happy. i was messing around with the s 10 motor and well scrap that idea. i think i may have found a motor that will work. i spotted it in a parts reference book that i just got. i was going to pick one up at the local pick a part this weekend or next week. sorry but i am not going to tell what the motor is from untill i have one in hand to see if it will work, but keep your eyes on this thread because i will post any progress. if it works out i will post a parts list and templets for this low buck upgrade. one thing i do need since my old vac motor is gone is the measurement of the arm on the motor that the linckage attaches too. measurements from pin to pin, pin to center to pin, and width and length of arm with how thick guage the arm is.

Re: 47-53 Lo Buck Wiper Motor

I worked on my wiper system yesterday and it works great! I'll post pics shortly and show everyone how a Blazer rear hatch wiper motor works great! I designed the whole setup with simplicity in mind and keeping it easy to work on.
