Re: 1982 6.2 diesel into a 1967 C10?
Do you need 3/4 type suspension to carry the extra weight of the diesel engine?

I wouldn't think you would need a 3/4 ton suspension. The truck that the motor is coming out of is a 1/2 ton. And the truck the motor is going in is a 1/2 ton. Regardless, I will use the front suspension from the diesel truck. Maybe I am wrong. Im gonna stop here and let someone else chime in. |

The 82 has big block/diesel springs up front. There for if you were going to use the 67 suspension you would need to order big block springs.

I haven't read all the way through this article yet, but it appears to have some good info. Best I can tell it's a few years old. Just FYI.

Re: 1982 6.2 diesel into a 1967 C10?
GM put these in all light duty trucks from blazers and C/10s and up.That`s waht makes them a great swap.i`ve seen Cadillacs,Buicks, and even a Vette with one swapped-in.
I guess not changing oil, poor fuels, and blatent abuse will turn anything into a boat anchor.Cuz the military blocks are the best, along with the`82,since the military specified the higher nickle content be retained in all their engines. All the GI vehicles owners I know in civvy land have no complaints at all.My son has a blazer and we have a huge contingent of collectors in my little town.Even a man with a shop that specializes in these...Oliver Davis. Some could know him because he is seriously into Humvees and has a crazy collection. He has a tow rig mounted on his one Humvee. There are many in daily use.We have a pole building contractor and a lawn service who both run their businesses out of CUCVs and larger models.I wounder why Uncle Sam stayed with the Detroit-Allison diesels from 1984-2007 if their studies would have showed them to be so bad.The 6.2 is 135hp from factory in civvy models and 195-200hp in 6.5TDs.

Re: 1982 6.2 diesel into a 1967 C10?
I had a 6.2 diesel in an 82 Suburban with over 300k miles (!) and I pulled it to sell to a guy who wanted it for his 4x4 project with 44" Boggers. It was still running and didn't use oil (!). truck is still for sale, BTW. (Back when I "inherited" it, it had around 200k miles. I thought it was using oil, but it was leaking from the front cover bolts being loose., I pulled all of the front cover bolts one at a time, cleaned the hole and bolt with brake parts cleaner, then reinstalled the bolt with lock tite.) He was going to go through it and install a Banks turbo. My uncle had an 83 6.2 with a Banks Turbo and pulled a 32 Avion travel trailer all over the country with no problems. He also had a N/A 6.2 in an 83 pickup. The only trouble we ever had was the injector pumps. We had three on the truck before it hit 100k(!) We finally found someone in Texas who could rebuild them and he said he used a brass disc instead of the OEM rubber (?) and we had over 200k on it and still going. BUT my brother had an 86 6.2 in a Suburban. It had close to 200k on it. The engine was fine. but it had an electronic control for the glow plugs and injection and was constantly giving him problems...

Re: 1982 6.2 diesel into a 1967 C10?
I have 3/4 ton suspension in my 67 build (seems all the diesel guys on the forum are doing 67's) and I noticed yesterday with only the inners, hood, pass fender, bumper, and grill missing, plus some small stuff, that my front end sits about where it did with a 350 in it. My advise would be to get a set of 80's diesel a/c 1/2 ton springs and throw them in if you want a little more support in the nose.
