Stepping uo to more than 2.5" of Z could lead to clearance issues. Every application is different.
Fact: I've seen more than one frame 'Z' that was greater than 2" & was successful.
Fact: I don't care for or understand the need for greater than 3" Z's but that's just my opinion which doesn't matter in this discussion.

I myself had mine plotted out for a 3" 'Z' before I met Nathan Porter.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I think its considered good and useful when it relates to the question at hand and is answered by someone who knows and has experienced *first* hand what the poster is asking.

this forum is known for its bashing, which is why I usually don't post and just lurk. but every once in a while I like to ante up.

Re: Need help with Z-ing!

cajundragger you are correct that information is best acquired from some one that has done it themselves.

That does not mean that some of us that have never actually done this particular application don't know what we are talking about.

I also take it rather personal when you say this forum is know for bashing. I have worked diligently for many months to ensure that this is one of the most positive suspension forums on the net.

I spend plenty of time on many different websites, and have confidence that things may not be perfect here, but this place is one of the most layed back around.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]

my primary intent was to help the OP. my secondary attempt was to provoke somebody. so nope, no troll here.

Re: Need help with Z-ing!

Whether your intent was primary or secondary is really irrelevant.

The fact that you admitted that it was to "provoke somebody" speaks volumes to your true intent.

Re: Need help with Z-ing!

oh and shane, Im not real up on the internet lingo, but when I looked up "trolling" it seems to be a derogatory name, which as far as I know is against forum rules to call someone. just a heads up, wouldnt want to see such a useful poster get in any trouble.

Re: Need help with Z-ing!

Guys I don't know what has prompted the friction between you two, but I do know who is going to end it. I respect the knowledge that both of you bring to the forum, but will not allow the bickering.

End it now.
