Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
Not 100% sure. Paid $1400 for the truck like 13 years ago. I think I've dropped 7 or 8K on it since then. 3K of that was the 350/700R4.
I'll be ripping the whole damn thing apart in a couple years for a "proper restoration" and to make it a fleetside with 67/68 CST trim.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
so far 1650 for the truck. 20 for a horn. 25 for a mastercylinder that needs to be bench bled and installed. plenty more to go for my rat(hopefully a turbo I6) rod 4x4.

$1200 and that is the price of the truck. I hope to be done at the $3500 mark, bar any major snafus!

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
i bought my truck from a buddies family, for 500 bucks without motor or transmission. it looked solid enough. the bed basically desintigrated on the rollback on the way home. the rust just fell out and left a swiss cheese floor.
the further i took it down the worse it got. I bought it because it was a highly optioned cheyenne short fleet side. by the time i got through tearing it apart all that was usable was a frame, and the hood. 12 grand and five years later i almost have enough to stuff to put it back together. then i'll have to paint it. chassis is completed, buckets are recovered, tach dash is rebuilt, 402 is in pieces under the work bench, but i am gonna run a six for a while. cab is ultra linered inside and underneath. i hope to start on paint soon. my buddies rib me for buying a truck to use as a pattern, to build another one.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
wow i realy hate to admit this but the truck was free, it was my dads and what i have put into it in the last 10 years, this hurts, but is well beyond the $55,000 dollar mark, i added them up not that long ago and it was over that, i have kept every bill since i owned this truck and lately i tripled those by what i did. i will honestly not admit what is in it in total but to be honest i do not care, i do not drink, smoke or anything this is my stress reliever. and if any one thinks i am rich, think again, i currently have to sell my dd and bike to get by. will never sell my truck. I just want her finished to drive her. wow that felt good getting that off the chest. later.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
I have close to $12,000 in my junk. I could spend that same amount all over and there would still be something else needed. As others have said, I don't golf or drink and my wife will hear nothing about me getting a girlfriend. Hey, you only live once.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
One of my other project vehicles started with a 2k budged, but I've already spend 6x that much and it isn't even painted yet. The day I added up the receipts on that one was an eye opener.
I fully expect to have spent 20-30k on my Suburban by the time it is "done". If you want things done right, even performing all the labor yourself, it is going to cost you.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
$3800 is what I paid for the truck, all I have in her is oil changes and probably less than 200 in misc. parts. But I plan on doing some upgrades soon (tires, intake,HEI)for about another $750.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
Just Sunday my wife asked me how much I have into the truck at this point and it added up to just over $8,000 not including my labor or all the beers we drank (the beer alone is probably another $5,000).

Do you have to count the tools and hardware bought to do the work? The welder, the sandblaster, compressor, engine hoist...

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
About $ 8500 for me. Some I did, some I hired (& helped, to get to learn).
It's really an OK, eye-catching, thumbs-up driver, but needs at least about that more more $$$$ thrown at it for interior, AC, some more rust repair & then paint touch-up, lowering, rewire, etc, etc, etc............. Never stops. |

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
Nope, those are investments that you can use on other projects in the future.....the cost of them is spread out over all of the years and vehicles that they were used on....minus and resale value that they have at that point, of course

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
HaHa, we were just talking about this today. So far for me,
4k for the truck I started with. couple parts trucks, new front clip, another new cab, (rust free cab was swiss cheese when stripped) Powder coating chassis, Paint. 4wd conversion, new longhorn bed floor. Overall. without putting a price on everything. Just the stuff I could think of off the top of my head today was 19850.00 and I just brought it home from the paint shop and ordered 650.00 in trinkets in the last 24hrs. I figure another 3-5k ill be done.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
I keep a spreadsheet as well. Truck was 3300 when I bought it and I've spent 6000 on parts for it. However, through buying complete parts lots and using what I need/selling the rest, I have ended up making around 8K selling parts so I actually only have around 1300 into the truck now. Good thing because it's in parts and undriveable

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
Alittle over $1500, got my truck from my dad for free. I have $1000 in motor and carb. $150 for headers, $100 for wheels and tires, then prob another $300 in small misc parts. but I'm just getting started and have a long way to go. I hope to make some progress this summer.

Re: my total $ in my truck........it scares me
I would have to guess around $20,000. I have owned if for nine years now and have gone through several different phases of upgrades. In the end I think it bust not to think about it. Just hop in it and drive.
