1965 c10 around the glass in the doors tips?
ok, so I finally ordered up my kit from lmc truck for the stuff that goes around the main/roll up glass in the doors.
I already have the rubber and the rivets for the vent windows. Does anyone have any pictures or tips, tricks that would help me in this little adventure? I have my 1963 shop manual, my 1965 supplement and my 1960-1966 assembly manual. I'm just looking for all of the information that I can get. Thanks. -W |

I hope to have a step by step within a few weeks. Stay tuned. I did my first one last night and now I know how to do it the second one should be easier.

If you quit sleeping so much you might get somthing done. Can't believe a one piece window is such a big deal. I really was wanting a one.

Re: 1965 c10 around the glass in the doors tips?
lmc truck catalog
I ordered window channel kit 38-995 for the '64-'66 chevy. In the print catalog and on the website catalog, they show the division bar with felt(38-5946) as being in two pieces, but a big long piece showed up in the box, with a different part number(a part number which does not show up in searches on their site). I called up LMC customer service about this and they say this about the big long piece: 'it is enough to make two'. This kinda irritates me tho', cuz that isn't what the diagram shows. They also couldn't tell me how I'm supposed to cut it, though I'm guessing I'll use a hacksaw. This looks to be a big future head ache in the works folks. So, pardon me if I show up cussin' here on the boards in the near future. -W |

FrizzleFry was working on one for his crazy corvette/truck hybrid.. before he had to pack up all his projects and move to a new house(I can't imagine the headache that was!) He has a few action shots buried in his big long thread, somewhere... Frizzle Fry's project: 61 Stepside + C5 Vette + Body Mods (on hold) They have kits for the one piece '64-'66 window glass, different shape and not as much of a hassle, or so I have been told by folks that have done it. -W |

Howdy Folks.
Okay, so I have the pivot rivets for each side, the rivet kit with the rivet tool to rivet the rubber back on. The window channel kit mentioned above... Now, what else do I need? I am guessing I need some weather stripping adhesive. Do any of you have a recommendation for that? Plus, it was suggested that I use a cutting wheel of some kind to cut the window channel to size, so I will use my dremel tool or a rotozip to do that. -W |

I have heard the hinge re-enforcements get in the way of one piece windows for the 4-5-6 trucks....dunno for sure though.
Oh and Woog, be sure to take lots of pics

Re: 1965 c10 around the glass in the doors tips?
I did this little project a few months ago on my 65 . I got what appears to be the same kit but i got mine though Brothers. I havent done the vent window because mine was decent shape. But the rest was pretty easy the rattel kit was hard because the old clips was all rusty and it mangeld the holes trying to get them out but other then that it was just cut and push it up in the right place The division bar was one piece to but it was really easy to cut I actully used some really sharp sissors Iam really pleased with the results the doors and glass dont rattle anymore it's less nosie driving and it keeps the rain out.

I've just had so many instances of getting into fixing something on my truck after trying to research the parts I need and 2/3rd's into actually wrenching on it... I'm missing 'one more piece'. Then I have to put everything back together, etc., and it still isn't finished... plus just a big waste of time and effort. So, I get really picky and overly cautious about these little projects. -W |

Re: 1965 c10 around the glass in the doors tips?
I'm going through the vendor sites... looking for a stainless steel beaded window seal/cat whiskers.
The fuzzy metal/cloth thing that snaps into the door itself, at the bottom of the door frame on each side of the glass. If anyone has a source on these, please let me know... in this thread, by private message or you can email me at: woogeroo@yahoo.com Thanks. -W p.s. I got my driver side window back together... what a pain. The window goes up and down now though... p.p.s. I checked some old threads and I was told to get some stainless ones by other old truck folks... but I honestly forgot and I bought a 'kit' with everything in it... but they are rusting already, as I was told they would... that is what I get for not taking notes!
