Just ordered a Warn Tabor 12K. Looked like it would fit my needs. Anybody else running this winch? As much trouble as I've had with the frt bumper, I hope this winch fits up right! Could have went with a bigger winch, but as much as I intend to use it, it should be about right. Any feedback?

I'll assume since it's Warn you should be good to go. I hear nothing but good things about them. I have a Ramsey 8k i'm putting on my Jeep but if I purchased a new winch (picked up the Ramsey used for cheap) i'd go Warn more than likely. I personally think 12k is plenty, maybe even a tad too much but should work out great for you.

Good rule of thumb is 1.5 x's the weight of your truck when determining winch size.

I ran my Warn 9.5K for 4 years with excellent results.

Did you mount it between the frame rails when you ran the stock bumper...any links to the thread, if you did

Right on , bro's! Anybody got pic's of mounting setups? Seen Burt4x4's and love it! I have this winch coming and can't wait to get it set up! I know I will have to do some mods to make it all work, but just looking for a heads up! Anybody been there?

First install was mounting it in the 'cow catcher'

About as close as I got to making up an install thread here, did do one over on CK5 though.

Got the tabor today. Looks good, matched it up to the wincher and it looks like it will work out okay! Fits in the "wincher box" just right, but will need to fab up some way to mount the controller box. Won't know more till I actually start trying to mate the wincher bumper/winch combo to my K5! Other than the controller box, you wont be able to see the actual winch except for the roller fairlead out front. My first winch, and I can say Warn does not provide very detailed instructions for installation, all very generic. Starting to get used to that, you have to learn to modify just about everything you get to make it work the way you want it! Still waiting for Kennesaw Mountain Acc., to send me my outer tubes so I can modify this bumper the way I wanted it. I'll try and get some pic's of the warn winch setup and post them here.

Stupid question, but like I said, this is my first winch. The "wincher" bumper came with the winch box built into the center of the bumper. It has a 1/4" plate bottom, 5" wide. The front of the bumper where the slot is for the cable/fairlead has 4 holes made in it. They are in the correct 10"-4.5" pattern for the mounting "feet" on the winch. To bolt the winch to the front plate of the bumper would put the clutch lever in the correct position at the top. The only pic in the warn installation manual shows the "mounting" feet bolting on from the bottom of the mount, and the cable/ fairlead going out the front. Am I missing something here? Seems like bolting it to the front would be more of a straight pull, hence stronger setup? I figured thats why the 4 holes were already there in the bumper, but I like I said, stupid question! HELP ME PLEASE!

My Warn directions said to mount it feet down also but I mounted it feet forward and have never had any trouble from doing it that way.

Don't know why Warn puts that in their instruction's, doesn't make any sense to me either.

Cool, thank's VT. It looked like the best way to mount it . Kinda wondering if KNMTN designed the wincher that way. Why else would there be 4 holes predrilled in the correct location. There never was any talk about it though. What if someone wanted a different setup. Seems like that would be part of a question a guy might have been asked when ordering a custom bumper, eh? Well, looks like this one is going to fit the way I wanted it to! Thank's again.

Just thinking, anyone can make a cool website to sell products, but can they make good products? Beware! Don't get me wrong, I like my bumper design, but not the grill guard design. I thought word of mouth was one of the best ways to advertise! That is "GOOD" word of mouth! Some say I might have a BIG mouth!

Bumper setup is back on track, so winch mount comes next. Looks like an easy mount to the bumper, just need to figure out a way/location for the controller box. Won't really know till mounting up the winch bumper to the K5, then the box will go where it has to go! Any pic's guy's?

i had a buddy with a tabor winch by warn an the one he had we try to pull a vw bug on my car trailer an in the proces we broke the switch to engange an disengage the clutch on the winch it snapped right off yours might be made diff though can you post a pic up so i can see it

Here's a pic! Winch laying on the floor. Waiting to get the K5 out of storage to fab up the bumper and winch mount. Can't wait! I think this winch will be perfect for this app. About 85 pounds, mounts up to my bumper perfectly. Right on track!

i think the knob can be replaced with a knob from a regular warn winch just becarefiul it will break at the worst time .good luck

Any other of you guy's heard of problems with the clutch switch? I figured a warn was good to go! Plan on running it and see what happens.

yeah we did also i will get a pic like i said he was trying to turn it so it would free spool an it just broke off in his hand it hung up first then snapped off other than that i think its a pretty good winch

Anybody else had trouble with this switch? Looking forward to getting the bumper mounted up, and the winch setup! Looking at dual batteries and mounts. I really like Burt 4x4's setup, any other pic's guy's?
